On the first day, the No Problem Line must be contacted in the following cases:

1. Departing, if your flight is more than 1 hour late or if you leave with a flight other than the one booked;

2. If your baggage has not arrived at the destination airport and you are stopped at the "Lost & Found" office;

3. If you are stopped inside the customs area due to delays and queues in the passport and visa control.

HOTELS

The category, usually expressed in stars, is the official one of the countries where the accommodation facility is located. Where there isn't one official classification the one indicated refers to objective judgements and the experience of Travel Team AL collaborators. We also remember that each country has a different evaluation criterion which is not always the case guarantees a level of services corresponding to the category declared. In some countries there is no double bed: the double room consists of 2 single beds joined or separated. Normally on the day of arrival the rooms are not are available before 15.00. On the day of departure, the rooms must be vacated by 11.00. Often hotels, al upon check-in, they ask for a deposit (by card of credit or cash) to guarantee any extra and other expenses included in the basic fee.

RESTAURANTS

Often the meals offered are set menus, always in any case of guaranteed quality and quantity. Changes to the menus are always subject to the availability of the restaurateurs. It is important to underline that catering abroad can be different from what the Italian customer is used to, without being of lesser quality. CLIMATE

The coasts have a Mediterranean climate (mild winters and hot summers) while the inland areas have a continental climate (cool summers and cold winters). For seaside tourism, the months of July and August are recommended. To visit the rest of the country, the intermediate seasons are better (May, June and September).

ENTRY DOCUMENTS

European and American citizens can enter Albania with a passport or with an identity card valid for expatriation. Both must be valid and the expiry must be more than 3 months after the date of return from Albania. If you have a renewed identity card valid for expatriation, there may be inconvenience at the border. It is advisable to inquire with your municipality of residence before departure or to bring your passport with you. Italian minors must have an individual travel document such as an individual passport or identity card valid for expatriation. It is recommended that you bring a copy of your documents with you and leave the originals at the hotel. Time Zone

In Albania, the standard time is Central European Time (CET; UTC+01:00). Daylight saving time, which moves one hour ahead of Central European Summer Time, is observed from the last Sunday in March (02:00 CET) to the last Sunday in October (03:00 CEST).

LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND RELIGION

The official language is Albanian but English and Italian are also widely spoken. The majority of the population is Muslim. The rest is made up of minorities such as the Catholic one and atheists and agnostics.

CURRENCY AND PAYMENT SYSTEMS

The currency is the lek. It is advisable to change money at exchange offices and always check the rate and any commissions.

Credit cards are not always accepted. There are few hotels that accept them and among restaurants in general only the high-level ones accept them.

ATMs aren't common everywhere so it's best to rely on cash. Before departure, it is advisable to inquire with your bank to check any commissions, anti-fraud blocks and PN to be used.

ELECTRIC CURRENT

The current is 230 volts as in Italy. The plugs are of type C and F (two round inputs) therefore an adapter may be useful.

TIPS

Tips are not required but appreciated. You can leave 10% of the price/bill, and 20% of daily salary for the staff. 

PHONE AND INTERNET

To call Albania from any country, dial 00355 followed by the prefix of the Albanian locality without the zero and then by the desired number. To call from Albania to ___ dial 0___ followed by the area code with zero and then the desired number (without zero for cell phones).

Roaming: outside the European Union the costs vary according to the operator and can be very high. It is advisable to inquire with your operator before departure or deactivate international roaming on your mobile phone to avoid unexpected costs. To surf the internet, it may be convenient to buy a local sim.

Wi-Fi: the Wi-Fi connection is present in the accommodation facilities and in various rooms but often the signal is not stable. In Tirana you can find free Wi-Fi hotspots marked by colorful sofas. In the rest of the country, it is difficult to find a stable connection.
